The hidage of the manors of
this part of the Wye valley at Domesday.
There was a small amount of
English incursion on the Welsh side of the river.
The 3 Welsh hides at
Brockhampton are puzzling. Perhaps there was a part of the
manor on the Welsh side of the river in what is now Ballingham
parish. Alternatively the Welsh hides may have been on the
English side of the river.
